How to Speed Up Insurance Approval and Avoid Delays

If you're using third-party insurance (not purchased through ShareGrid), it must be verified before you can rent gear. ShareGrid confirms that your policy is active, meets coverage requirements, and includes the proper authorizations.

Third-Party Insurance Verification (Non-Hiscox)

  • ShareGrid will contact your insurance company to verify your policy.

  • During this process, your insurance status may show as "Waiting for agent reply."

  • The verification timeline depends on how quickly your provider responds.

Hiscox Insurance Users

If your policy is with Hiscox, verification usually happens within a few hours.
However, delays can occur if:

  • ShareGrid is not listed as an authorized party on your policy

  • Required coverage details are missing

Steps to Complete Hiscox Insurance Verification:

  1. Contact Hiscox and ask for a Certificate of Insurance (COI).

  2. Make sure the off-premises business personal property coverage limit is clearly shown in the description box of the COI.

  3. Have Hiscox send the COI directly to insurance@sharegrid.com.

  4. Verify that ShareGrid is listed as an authorized certificate holder.

Without this information, your insurance cannot be approved for rentals.

Common Issues & How to Avoid Them

  • Slow Response from Providers: Ensure your insurance details are complete and up to date when submitting them to avoid delays. Please feel free to contact your provider and ask them to respond to our verification email.

  • Policies must not set an aggregate or per-item limit.

  • Policies must include “Rented Equipment from Others” coverage: It must cover off-premises rented gear.

  • Ensure the policy is of the correct type: Homeowners, renters, and general liability policies are not accepted.
