Understanding the process for issuing a Certificate of Insurance (COI) ensures a smooth rental experience on ShareGrid. Here's a straightforward guide on what to do based on your insurance type:
What Is a Certificate of Insurance (COI)?
A Certificate of Insurance (COI) is a document that provides evidence of insurance coverage. It demonstrates that insurance policies are in place to protect rented equipment, offering security for both renters and rental owners.
When Using Third-Party Insurance
If you’re using your own third-party insurance, you must issue a Certificate of Insurance (COI) directly to the rental equipment owner. Here’s how to do it:
Receive Owner’s Contact Information: ShareGrid will automatically email you the owner’s contact details after booking a rental with third-party insurance.
Include Owner’s Info on COI: Use this information to complete the COI. If unsure, you can ask the owner directly what details they need on the COI.
Contact Your Insurance Company: Contact your insurance provider for guidance on issuing a COI.
When Using ShareGrid’s Options
Short-Term or Annual Insurance (Athos Insurance)
Automatic COI Issuance: You're covered if you purchase a short-term or annual policy through ShareGrid. ShareGrid will automatically issue COIs to each owner after you book your rentals.
