Understanding the process for issuing a Certificate of Insurance (COI) ensures smooth rentals on ShareGrid. Here's a straightforward guide on what to do based on your insurance type:

When Using Third-Party Insurance

If you’re using your own third-party insurance, you must issue a Certificate of Insurance (COI) directly to the rental equipment owner. Here’s how to do it:

  1. Receive Owner’s Contact Information: ShareGrid will automatically email you the owner’s contact details after booking a rental with third-party insurance.

  2. Include Owner’s Info on COI: Use this information to complete the COI. If unsure, you can ask the owner directly what details they need on the COI.

  3. Contact Your Insurance Company: Contact your insurance provider for guidance on issuing a COI.

When Using ShareGrid’s Insurance Options

Short-Term or Annual Insurance (Athos Insurance)

  • Automatic COI Issuance: You're covered if you purchase a short-term or annual policy through ShareGrid. ShareGrid will automatically issue COIs to each owner after you book your rentals.

Damage Only or Damage + Theft Coverage

  • No Paperwork Needed: With these coverage options, no COI is required. ShareGrid directly manages these coverages, so you don’t need to issue a COI.
