If you're planning multiple rentals or working on high-value projects, choosing the right insurance is essential. ShareGrid supports Short-Term, Annual, and third-party insurance options—each offering flexible coverage beyond a single rental.

Here’s how to make the most of your insurance coverage.

Insurance Options

Short-Term and Annual Policies (via Athos Insurance)

Short-Term Policies

  • Ideal for single OR multiple projects within a set time period.

  • Must cover the entire rental period, including pickup and drop-off dates.

  • Make sure your policy limits cover the combined replacement value of all rented items.

Constraints: Short-term rental policies strictly cover the specific dates mentioned during purchase. The coverage starts and ends as defined in the policy, and any subsequent rentals require a new policy for applicable coverage.

Annual Policies

  • Best for frequent creators.

  • Cost-effective for those renting throughout the year.

  • Provides continuous coverage across multiple projects.

  • Timing Requirements: Short-term policies must be set up before booking a rental to ensure coverage is applied. Policies cannot be applied retroactively to rentals booked before the policy is set up.

Tip: For high-value rentals, please make sure your policy's coverage limits match or exceed the full replacement value of the rented gear. Understanding and following these details helps guarantee smooth coverage and avoids potential issues. If unsure, consult your insurance provider for personalized advice.

Multi-Rental & Multi-Project Coverage

Both Short-Term and Annual policies can cover:

  • Multiple rentals.

  • Rentals from both ShareGrid and other sources.

  • You don’t need a new policy for each rental; just ensure the coverage period and value limits are active.

Rebooking Procedures for Existing Rentals

If you have active bookings without insurance but want to apply a new short-term policy, you must cancel those bookings and rebook them with the selected coverage.

Note on Policy Period Limitations

The validity of short-term rental policies does not extend beyond the designated start and end dates. Ensure coverage spans all relevant rental dates and acquire a new policy if needed for subsequent rentals.

Third-Party Insurance

  • Accepted on ShareGrid if coverage requirements are met

  • Great for users with custom or high-limit policies

  • Submit your Certificate of Insurance (COI) during checkout

  • One third-party policy can often cover multiple rentals, provided the coverage total is sufficient
