How to Update Your Phone Number on ShareGrid

Step-by-Step Guide for Changing Your Number With or Without Access to Your Old One

You can update your phone number on ShareGrid even if you no longer have access to your old one. Follow the steps below to ensure smooth account access.

If You Still Have Access to Your Old Number

  1. Go to settings by clicking your profile photo thumbnail, and select Settings.

  2. Open ID & SMS Verification. Find the section for phone number updates.

  3. Enter Your New Number Type your new number and click Send Code.

  4. Verify the New Number Enter the SMS code sent to your new phone to complete the update.

  5. Double-check the number you entered is correct to avoid sending the code to an incorrect number.

If You No Longer Have Access to Your Old Number

You have two options:

1. Contact Customer Support

  • Ask ShareGrid to remove your old phone number from your account.

  • Once removed, follow the steps above to add and verify your new number.

2. Use Email Verification

  • If the system detects you can’t receive the SMS code, it will email you instead.

  • Look for an email titled "Your ShareGrid Security Code" (check spam/junk folders too).

  • Follow the instructions in the email to update your number.

  • You may need to complete identity verification before the change is finalized.

  • Contact your mobile carrier to ensure short-code SMS messages are not blocked.

Troubleshooting common phone number and SMS notification issues can also help ensure uninterrupted access and timely delivery of important messages.

  • Verify your messaging app's settings to make sure SMS messages from ShareGrid are not marked as spam.

  • Double-check that your phone number complies with ShareGrid’s supported formats (e.g., US-based mobile numbers only).

  • Ensure your contact information is updated accurately in your ShareGrid profile settings.

If Your Number Is Linked to Another ShareGrid Account You Don’t Control

  • Contact ShareGrid Support and request the removal of the number from the old account.

  • Once removed, follow the regular steps to add and verify it on your account.

Important Requirements

  • Only US-based mobile numbers are supported.

  • International numbers, VoIP numbers, and landlines are not accepted.

  • A verified US mobile number is required to rent on ShareGrid.
