Beta Notice: Shipped rentals are currently in beta and available from select equipment owners.
Please note: This article applies only to shipped rentals, not locally picked-up rentals.
Step 1: Complete ID Verification (First-Time Renters)
To protect the community, all first-time renters must complete a quick, one-time verification check:
Upload Your ID: Submit a valid government-issued ID before or during checkout.
Fast Review: We review most IDs within 30 minutes during normal business hours.
Time-Sensitive: Complete your verification promptly. We automatically cancel unverified orders at the end of the shipping day.
Step 2: Select Dates & Checkout
Choose Dates: On the listing page, click Select Dates, set your delivery and return dates, and click Add to Rental Cart.
Review Costs: Open your cart (top-right icon) to see the automatically calculated rental and shipping fees.
Confirm Address: Enter your shipping address. Note: To prevent fraud, orders can only ship to the confirmed billing address on your credit card.
Authorize Payment: Complete checkout. Your card is only authorized at this stage—it will not be charged until the owner prepares the package for shipping.
Step 3: Understanding Your Rental Window
When the Clock Starts: Your rental officially begins at 5:00 PM local time on whichever occurs later:
Your scheduled start date, or
The carrier’s first delivery attempt.
Return Drop-Off Deadline: Rentals run in 24-hour increments. Drop off gear with the carrier by 5:00 PM on your scheduled end date to avoid late fees.
Early Deliveries: If the package arrives early, you will not be charged extra—your rental period still begins on your scheduled start date.
Shipping Delays: If a carrier delay causes the package to arrive late, your rental duration is automatically extended so you receive the full time you booked.
Cancellations: You may only cancel an order before the owner purchases the shipping label.
🛡️ Coverage & Value Limits
Before checking out, keep these shipped rental policies in mind:
Item Value Cap: Shipped rentals are currently capped at a $7,500 replacement value (this limit will increase in the future).
Required Coverage: Only Damage + Theft coverage is permitted.
Unavailable Options: Damage Only coverage, annual policies, short-term third-party policies, and outside insurance certificates don't apply to shipped rentals.
💡 Essential Booking Tips
Weekday Starts/Returns Only: Rentals cannot begin or end on a Saturday or Sunday due to carrier operating hours.
Add a Buffer Day: Always set your delivery date at least one business day before your shoot to account for unexpected carrier transit delays.
Expedited Shipping: If you need an item faster, message the owner before they buy the shipping label to discuss and pay for rush shipping.
Quick Summary Checklist
Reserve: Pick weekday dates, account for a buffer day, and proceed to checkout.
Verify: Upload your ID promptly so your order isn't canceled.
Receive: Inspect your gear when it arrives. Locate the prepaid return label included inside.
Return: Repack equipment securely, place the return label over the original label, and drop off the box with the carrier before 5:00 PM on your final day.
