Using International Documents for Account Verification

For international users looking to join ShareGrid, setting up an account requires specific steps to ensure proper verification and compliance. Here’s what you need to know about using international documents for account verification:

  • Passports: We accept valid international passports for verification. However, if you use a non-Canadian international passport, we will request an email copy of your valid US visa to complete the verification.

  • Proof of Address: International visitors, especially those traveling on an ESTA visa, must provide evidence of a US address during their stay.

Residency Requirements for Insurance Coverage

  • Permanent Residency: Most ShareGrid members must have permanent US residency. Our insurance partner, Athos Insurance, specifically requires policyholders to be permanent US residents.

  • Alternative Coverage Options: If you do not meet the residency requirement, you must secure your own insurance or opt for ShareGrid's coverage options, such as Damage + Theft or Damage Only if available.

Payment and Phone Verification

  • Payment Cards: Our payment processor generally does not accept international payment cards. We recommend using US-based payment cards whenever possible. Please contact our support team for assistance if you need to use an international card.

  • Phone Numbers: Similarly, our phone verification system is set up for US-based cell phone numbers and does not typically accept foreign or VoIP numbers. If a US phone number is unavailable to you, please contact our support team for potential alternatives.
