If the equipment owner you are renting from is located within one of the active Marketplace Facilitator states, you will be required to pay sales tax on your transaction.
The precedent set by the South Dakota v. Wayfair, Inc. Supreme Court decision allows states to tax remote sales and rentals, like those made through ShareGrid and any other e-commerce sites. This does not differentiate between used, new purchases or rentals and is not something ShareGrid can opt-out of.
Note: You can view the estimated tax amount before completing your rental in the shopping cart.
