Welcome, and thanks for visiting ShareGrid! In case you're not familiar with the site, ShareGrid is a peer-to-peer marketplace for renting film and photography equipment.
If you're viewing this page, you have likely received a notification that you've been added as an Authorized Person for a rental. This means that someone has added your information so that you can pick up or drop off equipment on their behalf.
This article walks through the next steps.
Complete ID Verification
The first thing you'll be asked to do after being added as an Authorized Person is to complete ID verification on your phone. Click the link in the message you received, and our system will guide you through the verification process.
You'll need a state-issued ID, such as a driver's license or passport. You'll be asked to take a picture of the front and back of your ID, along with a 'selfie' image. All information provided is processed securely.
Please take care to hold the camera still and use good lighting when taking images with your phone's camera, as blurry or low-quality images may cause delays with ID screening. If we need further information, we'll contact the person who submitted your details as an Authorized Person.
Meet with the other party
Once your ID is verified, you can arrange to meet with the other party to pick up / drop off equipment. Please coordinate this with the person who added you as an Authorized Person for the rental. They can provide you with the other party's contact details and the location and timing for the meeting.
Make sure to bring your ID to the meeting - the other party will check your ID when you arrive.
Fill out the Digital Checksheet
After you've been added as an Authorized Person for a rental, you may receive another text message with a link to the Digital Checksheet for the rental.
If you're picking up equipment at the start of a rental, make sure to complete the Digital Checksheet. This allows you to record the condition of the equipment, and make note of the items that you have picked up.
The equipment owner will fill out the Digital Checksheet at drop-off, so if you're returning equipment, you don't need to worry about this step.
