At ShareGrid, we understand how exciting connecting with new people in our community is. However, as an equipment owner, you may want to learn more about the person you're renting to. Your comfort is essential to us, so don't hesitate to ask questions before accepting a rental request. To help you with this process, we have some friendly tips and suggested questions!

First, it's good to know that all our members have completed ID verification before sending a rental request. Additionally, we encourage users to create a ShareGrid profile with a biography and links to their film or photography work and social profiles. To access this information, click the user's name on the site to view their profile.

If you'd like to gather more information about a potential renter, here are some helpful questions you may want to ask:

  • What is the project you're working on? We'd love to learn more about it!

  • Will you handle the gear, or will someone else operate it?

  • Where do you plan to shoot? Let us know if it's indoor or outdoor, in a studio or on location, and if there are any critical environmental factors like extreme temperatures, sand, water, etc.

  • Are there any travel plans involved with the gear? Are you traveling out of state with the gear?

  • Will you pick up the equipment yourself, or do you plan to add an Authorized Person to the rental?

  • It would be great to see examples of your previous experience using this type of equipment. Could you share some with us?

  • Do you have any professional references from people you've worked with in the industry? If so, we'd love to know more about them. Feel free to provide contact details or a website for reference.

All communication should stay on the ShareGrid platform. Sometimes new renters must be aware of the rules, so kindly tell them that keeping the conversation here is essential. Only share your email address, phone number, or other contact information once the rental is officially booked.

Once the rental is confirmed and you're getting ready for your renter's arrival, check out our helpful tips on preparing for pickup. Our support team is always here to assist you with questions or concerns.

Happy renting and connecting with fellow ShareGrid members!
