Are you looking to list a camera or sound package for rent? Here's a simple guide to creating and customizing packages on ShareGrid, enhancing both exposure and renter experience!

πŸ‘‰πŸΌ Creating New Packages:

  1. Access the Feature: Go to 'Manage Listings' and click '+ Add New.' From there, select β€˜Package’.

  2. Define Your Package: Include both required and optional listings. Renters must select at least two listings when renting a package.

Best Practices:

  • Create one package for each primary inventory item (e.g., a camera body).

  • Include essential items as required listings (e.g., lenses).

  • Make accessories optional to offer flexibility.

  • Avoid duplicating packages with the same primary item or using overly long titles.

  • Check the listing in a different browser or incognito mode to see how your package appears to renters.

Setting Prices and Discounts:

  • Consider offering package discounts to encourage renters to choose your bundle over others. Discounts are applied equally as a percentage across all the items in the package.

  • The advertised base price of a package is derived from required listings + lowest priced optional item, and will increase as optional items are added during checkout. Renters are required to rent at least two items when renting a package, even if you only have one required item. Learn more about how package prices are calculated.

  • If you want to create listings that are only available as part of packages, set them to private then add them to a public package. This way, you don't have to discount them publically.

Package Limitations:

  • Restrictions: Certain items like drones, spaces, and vehicles that lack insurance cannot be added to a package.

  • Quantity Management: While you can't add the same listing more than once to a package (coming soon). Manage quantities by adjusting qty at the listing level, which is considered as part of package availability automatically. If you would like multiple of the same item in a package, temporarily create multiple listings and add them to the package, or you can hold off on creating new packages until it's out of beta.

  • Once renters add an item as part of a package to their cart, then can't add the same item to the same cart again even if qty > 1 is available.

πŸš€ Updating Your Legacy Packages for Enhanced Visibility: To boost the exposure and appeal of your rental packages on ShareGrid, you may update your older, 'legacy' package listings into our new format. Legacy packages cannot be added to new packages themselves.

Step-by-Step Guide to Convert Legacy Packages:

  1. Navigate to your Listing Manager on ShareGrid.

  2. Use the "Packages (Legacy)" filter to identify all your existing legacy packages.

  3. If your Legacy Package includes multiple primary items, break them down into individual listings. Accessories such as batteries and cables can be added as kit items under a listings, and don't need to have their own listings unless you plan to rent them down individually.

  4. Recompose these new listings into a new package.

  5. Close your old legacy package listings as you open the new packages them.

  6. Note: If your legacy packages already consists of just one primary item (like a camera body and related accessories), you can turn off "This is a package" to convert it to a regular listing so it can be added to the new package builder:

⭐️ Benefits of New Packages:

  • Convenience: Simplify rental requests and inventory management with automated tracking of underlying listings and offering alternative options to renters.

  • Increased Visibility: New package listings will feature more prominently in search results.

  • Enhanced Renter Experience: With fewer rental denials, your acceptance rate improves, offering renters a smoother experience.
