Understanding sales tax on ShareGrid can be a bit tricky. We've simplified the details to help you navigate it smoothly.

ShareGrid & Sales Tax: The Basics

Automatic Tax Collection:

  • Marketplace Facilitator States: If you’re an owner or seller in a state where ShareGrid handles sales tax, we’ll automatically collect and remit the sales tax for you.

  • Non-Opt Out: This automatic process is standard for our platform, and you cannot opt-out.

  • No Impact on Your Pricing: The sales tax is added to the transaction and does not affect the listing price you’ve set.

What If ShareGrid's Automatic Collection Doesn't Cover My State?

Self-Collection Responsibilities:

  • Regions Not Covered: If your state isn’t listed under our automatic tax collection, you may need to handle sales taxes yourself.

  • Setting Up Your Tax Policies:

    • Go to your account settings.

    • Review and agree to the terms.

    • Choose the state where you’ll collect taxes.

A Friendly Reminder:

  • Stay Informed: Each seller should be aware of their local tax laws. Consult an accountant or local tax expert for guidance if you're unsure.

Statement in Lieu of New York State Department of Taxation and Finance Form ST-150: ShareGrid is a registered New York State sales tax vendor and will collect sales tax on all taxable sales of tangible personal property that it facilitates for delivery to a New York State address.
